The Sindh Cabinet has approved the provincial budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, paving the way for its presentation in the Sindh Assembly.
According to details shared from the cabinet meeting, the provincial budget is expected to exceed Rs. 2.7 trillion. The government has proposed a 7 percent increase in salaries for government employees and a 5 percent increase in pensions.
Sources said the provincial government had explored the possibility of granting a salary increase of at least 10 percent but was unable to do so because of financial limitations.
Speaking during the meeting, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the upcoming budget had been prepared with all segments of society in mind.
He also said the Sindh government was taking special steps to address poverty in line with the directions of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
