The CCPO stated that more than 100,000 security duties will be performed by police officers and personnel on a rotational basis throughout Muharram. To strengthen monitoring, nine control rooms have been established to oversee security operations around the clock.

Police have also introduced an improved traffic management plan to facilitate commuters and mourners. Real-time monitoring of processions and religious gatherings will be conducted through the Punjab Safe Cities Authority and district administration control rooms operating 24/7.

Providing an update on law and order, Kamyana said serious crimes in Lahore declined by 55 percent in 2026 compared with the previous year, while robbery incidents decreased by 58 percent. He added that property worth more than Rs8 billion, including cash and valuables, has been recovered and returned to citizens since January 2023.

The police chief further revealed that over 1.332 million pending case challans have been submitted to courts, while more than 100,000 proclaimed offenders have been arrested during recent operations.

To further enhance security, Lahore Police will utilize QR code-based systems and panic buttons at key locations. Authorities will continue intelligence-based combing operations and maintain all field formations on high alert throughout Muharram.

The CCPO reiterated a zero-tolerance policy regarding violations of approved procession routes and timings, while strict enforcement of the ban on unauthorized loudspeaker use will also remain in place.
