Supreme Court Staff to Get Double Utility Allowance Next Month

The Supreme Court has approved a 100 percent increase in utility allowances for its employees, with the revised rates set to take effect from July 1, 2026.

The increase was approved by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and will be funded through the court’s approved budget for fiscal year 2026-27. The allowance is meant to cover gas and electricity expenses incurred by Supreme Court employees.

Under the revised structure, employees in Grades 1 to 6 will receive Rs. 12,000 per month, up from Rs. 6,000, while those in Grades 7 to 10 will receive Rs. 16,000 instead of Rs. 8,000. Employees in Grades 11 to 15 will get Rs. 20,000, double the previous amount of Rs. 10,000.

Grade 16 officers will receive Rs. 24,000 per month, Grade 17 officers Rs. 30,000, Grade 18 officers Rs. 36,000, and Grade 19 officers Rs. 42,000. The allowance for Grade 20 officers has been increased to Rs. 48,000, while officers in Grade 21 and above will now receive Rs. 60,000 per month, compared with Rs. 30,000 previously.
