Karachi Port Sets New Record for Container Handling

Karachi Port has set a new national record after handling more than 2.651 million TEUs before the close of the current fiscal year.

Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said the milestone reflects growing business confidence in Pakistan’s maritime sector.He added that Karachi Port has now become the country’s largest container handling port in terms of historic performance.

The minister said Pakistan’s shipping and logistics capacity is continuing to strengthen, while the government’s mission to position the country as a regional transshipment and logistics hub remains ongoing.

He further stated that port reforms and modern infrastructure have contributed to a significant increase in cargo traffic. Karachi Port, he said, continues to play a key role in Pakistan’s economy and maritime trade.
