Samsung has introduced the Galaxy A27 5G as an upgrade over the Galaxy A26, focusing mainly on design changes and a small improvement in performance.
The new model replaces the teardrop notch with a punch-hole camera, adds slimmer display bezels, and switches from an Exynos processor to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset.
Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy A27 5G features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, matching the screen specifications of its predecessor.
The main change is the placement of the front camera. Samsung has replaced the Galaxy A26’s teardrop notch with a cleaner punch-hole design.
Samsung calls it an Infinity-O display and says the bezels around the screen are also thinner.
The phone carries an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water splashes. This is a downgrade from the IP67 rating offered by the Galaxy A26. It will be available in Black, Blue, Light Green, and Light Pink.
Internals and Software
The Galaxy A27 5G is powered by the 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset.
Samsung says the processor delivers a performance improvement of around 10 to 20 percent compared with the 5nm Exynos 1380 used in the Galaxy A26.
The company says the updated chipset should make the phone more responsive during everyday use.
The Galaxy A27 5G will be available in three memory configurations:
- 6GB RAM with 128GB storage
- 8GB RAM with 128GB storage
- 8GB RAM with 256GB storage
Samsung has promised six Android operating system updates and up to six years of security updates.
Cameras
The rear camera system includes a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation. It is joined by a 5MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera.
The punch-hole cutout on the front houses a 12MP selfie camera.
Battery and Pricing
The Galaxy A27 5G has a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W wired charging.
The phone will become available in Germany on July 3, with prices starting at €350. It will launch in the United States on July 14 for $350. This converts to nearly Rs. 100,000.
