Tech Job Ad Goes Viral Over Impossible Eligibility Requirement

A Yahoo job ad has gone viral on social media after users spotted a major error in the listing. The post, for a Senior Software Developer (Claude Code Expert) role, says the company is looking for someone with “10+ years of experience with Claude Code.”

The line immediately drew attention because Claude Code is a recent AI coding tool. Claude Code began as an internal side project in September 2024, developed by Anthropic engineer Boris Cherny. After gaining traction inside the company and going through beta testing in late 2024 and early 2025, the command-line coding tool was released in public preview in February 2025.

The screenshot shows the role listed in Sunnyvale, California, with a salary range of $150,000 to $190,000 a year. But most of the reaction online focused on the experience requirement rather than the position itself.

Social media users mocked the listing as an example of unrealistic hiring criteria and poor technical review in job ads. Many pointed out that companies are increasingly adding AI tools to job descriptions without checking whether the requirements actually make sense.

The ad’s wording suggests the mistake may have come from careless drafting or a lack of internal review before publication.
