Indian iPhone Supplier’s Massive Data Leak Exposes Supplier Secrets

Sensitive information about the iPhone 18 Pro and Apple’s manufacturing supply chain has appeared on the dark web following a cyberattack on Tata Electronics, a major iPhone supplier.

The breach reportedly involved more than 630GB of data taken from the India-based manufacturer, which has become one of Apple’s main production partners outside China.

The leaked documents contain details about hundreds of iPhone 18 Pro components and the companies responsible for supplying them.

What Was Leaked

The files reportedly identify chips used on the phone’s main circuit board and components connected to its battery and camera systems.

They also include supplier lists that link individual parts to the companies producing them.

Apple normally keeps these arrangements private.

Documents related to Tesla and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company were also included in the leak, although much of the exposed material reportedly concerns Apple.

Apple Insider first reported that the stolen files included iPhone 18 Pro logic-board designs and other technical documents.

Supply Chain Details

Tata Electronics supplies components and assembles iPhones for Apple.

The company has become one of Apple’s most important manufacturing partners as the iPhone maker expands production outside China.

The leaked files could give competitors, counterfeiters, and Apple’s existing suppliers information about where the company obtains specific components.

The documents may also reveal which parts come from several suppliers and where Apple relies on only a small number of companies.

That information could weaken Apple’s position during future negotiations with suppliers.

Apple Investigates

Apple is investigating the breach and working with Tata on long-term security measures.

Tata has also tightened access to sensitive internal systems while examining the incident.

The attack exposed confidential information despite Apple’s efforts to keep product development and supplier relationships private.

Timing of the Leak

The breach comes as Apple faces higher memory and storage chip costs.

The company recently increased prices for several iPad and MacBook models after saying it could no longer absorb the full impact of rising component expenses.

Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max this fall.

Its first foldable smartphone could also appear alongside the new Pro models.
