Redmi has officially launched the K90 Ultra in China after months of leaks, rumours, and speculation about the device. The new model focuses heavily on gaming performance, with the older Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with a built-in active cooling fan and a separate D2 interpolation chip.
Design and Display
The Redmi K90 Ultra features a 6.83-inch flat AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 × 2772 pixels. The panel supports a 165Hz refresh rate, up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness and full-array DC dimming.
Redmi offers the phone in Space Silver, Shadow Black and Sky Blue. It also carries IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against dust and water.
The device includes dual symmetrical stereo speakers tuned by Bose.
Internals and Software
The phone uses the older Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Redmi has paired it with a built-in active cooling fan that can reportedly reduce the temperature by up to 10°C.
The cooling system is intended to prevent performance throttling during extended gaming sessions.
The K90 Ultra also includes a separate D2 interpolation chip designed for gaming.
It runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
Cameras
The Redmi K90 Ultra has a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilization. The main camera uses a 1/1.55-inch sensor.
It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide camera, while a 20MP camera handles selfies and video calls.
Battery and Pricing
The phone packs an 8,550mAh battery with support for 100W wired charging. It also supports 22.5W reverse wired charging, allowing it to provide power to other compatible devices. Redmi includes a 100W GaN charger in the box.
The Redmi K90 Ultra starts at around $441 for the model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. However, a current promotion offers the 16GB RAM and 256GB storage version for the same $441 price. This configuration normally costs approximately $470. The 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version costs around $515. The highest-end model, featuring 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, is priced at approximately $544.
The Redmi K90 Ultra is unlikely to receive an official launch outside China. A similar device could appear under the Poco brand in the coming months, although there is no certainty that this will happen.
