Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 17C in China as the successor to the Redmi 15C, skipping the Redmi 16C name entirely.
The budget phone comes with only 4GB of RAM, compared with the maximum 8GB configuration offered by the Redmi 15C, which arrived around nine months ago.
Xiaomi is selling the phone with either 64GB or 128GB of storage. The base version costs around $117, while the 128GB model costs approximately $132.
Given the lineup’s popularity in Pakistan, there is a high chance this phone will arrive in the local market as well.
Design and Display
The Redmi 17C features a 6.88-inch LCD with HD+ resolution, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and a 240Hz touch-sampling rate.
The panel reaches up to 600 nits of brightness and supports DC dimming. It has also received TÜV Rheinland certifications covering low blue light, flicker reduction, and more comfortable viewing.
A fingerprint sensor is built into the side of the phone.
The Redmi 17C comes in Black, Danxia Red, and Sea Breeze Blue. The red version has a faux-leather texture, while the other finishes use glossy rear panels.
Internals and Software
The phone uses the MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra chipset, with its octa-core processor reaching speeds of up to 2GHz.
It comes with 4GB of RAM across both variants. Buyers can choose between 64GB and 128GB of internal storage.
The Redmi 17C runs Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 out of the box. It also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Cameras
The large circular module on the back resembles a four-camera arrangement, but the phone has only one working rear camera and an LED flash.
The other two rings are decorative. The main camera uses a 13MP sensor, while the waterdrop notch on the front houses a 5MP selfie camera.
Battery and Pricing
The Redmi 17C has a 5,160mAh battery and supports 18W wired charging.
The 4GB/64GB version costs $117, while the 4GB/128GB model is priced at $132.
