The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperative Department has fully operationalized its Digital Medicines and Vaccines Procurement and Distribution Framework.
The new system will allow the department to digitally track medicines and vaccines from procurement to delivery to farmers, making the entire process more transparent and efficient.
The progress was reviewed during a visit by Secretary Livestock Zariful Maani to the provincial medicines and vaccines warehouses and cold chain facilities, where he inspected the implementation of the digital framework.
During the visit, the secretary was briefed on the live digital dashboard, which provides real-time information on procurement, stock positions, warehouse management, cold chain monitoring, district-wise supply and utilization, and the administration of medicines and vaccines to livestock owners.
According to officials, the system covers the full supply chain, including procurement, quality assurance, warehousing, cold chain monitoring, distribution and administration. This makes every stage traceable through the digital platform.
To check the system’s accuracy, the secretary randomly selected records from Bajaur, Mohmand and Kohat. Farmer and animal details were taken from the dashboard, after which officials made live phone calls to the beneficiaries to confirm whether they had received the medicines and vaccines.
The verification confirmed that the supplies had reached the intended beneficiaries exactly as recorded in the digital system.
The secretary appreciated the efforts of teams working in both settled and merged districts and described the initiative as a landmark governance reform.
Officials said the framework will help improve efficiency, reduce the risk of leakages and strengthen accountability in public service delivery.
The initiative is part of the governance reforms completed under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary’s Good Governance Roadmap, which focuses on digital transformation, institutional transparency and better delivery of public services in the province.
