Punjab Starts Sealing Illegal Tuition Centers

The Punjab government has intensified its crackdown on illegal and unregistered academies across the province following recent incidents in Baghbanpura and Kahna, expanding the operation from urban centers to rural areas.

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said hundreds of unregistered tuition centers have been sealed through coordinated efforts involving district administrations, public reporting, and support from parents.

He said investigations into the Baghbanpura incident took a new direction after media reports highlighted key facts. According to the minister, the reporting helped establish that, contrary to initial impressions, the affected children were not inside the school building but were present in a nearby street.

Rana Sikandar Hayat also acknowledged media coverage on the Kahna incident, summer camps, and examination cheating networks, saying such reporting had assisted authorities in identifying violations and taking action.

The minister said the province-wide operation against illegal academies will continue, with authorities extending enforcement measures to rural areas to ensure compliance with education regulations and improve student safety.
