The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially launched an electronic driving license (E-Driving License), allowing motorists to carry their credentials digitally on their mobile phones.
Jointly developed by the provincial Transport Department, the KP Information Technology Board (KPITB), and the Dastak Digital Platform, the initiative aims to eliminate the need for physical licence cards.
The digital licence will be fully recognized by traffic police, government departments, and courts nationwide.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s administration described the move as a major step toward modernizing public services under the “Digital Pakistan” vision.
The electronic licence includes a secure QR code that allows for instant online verification, significantly reducing the risks of forgery and tampering.
Officials stated that the new system offers a faster, safer, and more convenient experience for drivers.
By simply using their smartphones, motorists can now present their legal driving authority at any time, ensuring an efficient and transparent process for both the public and law enforcement agencies.
The launch marks a significant milestone in promoting people-centric e-governance and digital transparency across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
