The long delayed Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway (M-6) project has been divided into five sections ahead of the start of construction, which is expected during the current fiscal year.
The update was shared during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Communications, chaired by Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani.
Officials informed the committee that the motorway will be built in five segments: Hyderabad to Tando Adam, Tando Adam to Nawabshah, Nawabshah to Naushahro Feroze, Naushahro Feroze to Ranipur, and Ranipur to Sukkur.
The committee was told that the project has faced a delay of more than five years. A total of Rs. 30 billion has been allocated for the current fiscal year against a funding requirement of Rs. 70 billion.
According to the briefing, the Hyderabad to Tando Adam and Tando Adam to Nawabshah sections will be developed under the public private partnership (PPP) model. The Naushahro Feroze to Ranipur and Ranipur to Sukkur sections will be financed by the Islamic Development Bank, while the Nawabshah to Naushahro Feroze section will receive funding from the OPEC Fund.
The Ministry of Communications also briefed the committee on the expected construction schedule and progress of each section. During the meeting, the committee reviewed the status of Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) projects. Officials said that out of the Rs. 3.7 trillion PSDP allocation, around Rs. 2.6 trillion consists of throw forward projects.

How can one forget that while Acquiring Land for this Section of the Motorway Billions / Millions of Funds were stolen by the Civil Servants who were incharge of this Acquisition and one even Went Abroad, there is something wrong with the Ghutti/Khameer of this Land 🤔
