The merged Ufone-Telenor company has approached the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for approval of a unified tariff framework as it begins integrating the operations of Pakistan’s largest telecom merger.
Sources told ProPakistani that Ufone and Telenor subscribers will continue using their existing packages during the transition period until the PTA approves new tariffs for the merged operator.
Ufone customers will remain on Ufone packages, while Telenor users will continue on their current plans until a unified pricing structure is introduced.
Sources said the merged company has become Pakistan’s largest mobile operator by subscriber market share.
The request comes after the formal completion of the Ufone-Telenor merger following last week’s Islamabad High Court order approving the amalgamation. With the merger now legally effective, Telenor Pakistan has ceased to exist as a separate legal entity, with all of its assets and liabilities transferred to Pakistan Telecommunication Mobile Limited (PTML).
