The Punjab government has allocated Rs. 200 million for the feasibility study of a proposed high-speed train connecting Rawalpindi and Lahore under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2026-27.
According to official documents, the total cost of the feasibility study is estimated at Rs. 452 million. The study will examine the project’s technical, financial, and operational feasibility before construction can begin.
The proposed high-speed rail link aims to improve connectivity between Punjab’s two major cities by significantly reducing travel time while providing a faster and more efficient mode of transportation.
The allocation forms part of the provincial government’s broader plan to modernize transport infrastructure through major rail and road development projects.
