Tourists Trapped as Landslide Blocks Major Patch of Karakoram Highway

The Karakoram Highway has been blocked due to a landslide at Patan Dak, leaving tourists and other travelers stranded amid severe traffic congestion.

The closure has also disrupted the land route between Pakistan and China, with a large number of tourists visiting the Pak-China border for recreation reported to be stuck.

According to local police officials, vehicles arriving in Gilgit-Baltistan from different parts of the country have been halted, while many passengers remain stranded on the route.

Travelers have reportedly started making space on their own for smaller vehicles to move through the blocked area.

Those affected include children, elderly passengers, women, and students, while long queues of cargo trucks have also built up on both sides of the highway.

The blockage has added to travel difficulties on one of the country’s most important mountain routes, which also serves as a key trade and transport link with China.
