Pakistan Starts Fueling International Ships at Gwadar Port

Pakistan has successfully completed its first marine bunkering operation at Gwadar Port, marking the launch of fuel supply services for international commercial vessels and extending the country’s marine fuel network to all three major seaports.

During the operation, the foreign LNG vessel LNG ENUGU received 2,500 metric tons of Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) produced by Cnergyico PK Limited in line with International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards.

The bunkering operation was carried out by global energy company Vitol through its bunker barge Marine Ista in collaboration with the National Logistics Corporation (NLC).

With the addition of Gwadar, Pakistan now offers internationally compliant marine bunkering services at Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and Gwadar Port.

The operations are conducted under the Pakistan Single Window framework and electronic customs marine bunkering rules, creating a standardized and internationally certified fuel supply network for commercial shipping.

Officials said the development strengthens Pakistan’s position as a regional marine fuel supplier and reduces reliance on established bunkering hubs such as Fujairah and Singapore.

It also marks the first time an ocean going commercial vessel has received bunkering services at Gwadar, expanding the country’s maritime logistics and energy capabilities.
