A dispute between the Punjab Food Department and the Nanbai Association over official bread prices remains unresolved, with tandoor owners now threatening to increase prices on their own if an agreement is not reached.
According to sources, the Nanbai Association has called a meeting for Saturday to discuss the ongoing standoff and announce revised prices for roti and nan.
Association sources said a proposal has already been finalized to increase the price of roti to Rs. 25 and nan to Rs. 35.
The association also warned that if authorities attempt to prevent the price hike through force, tandoor owners could shut down their businesses in protest.
Meanwhile, sources said the Punjab government has yet to finalize new official prices for roti and nan despite ongoing discussions with stakeholders.
The deadlock has created uncertainty for both consumers and tandoor owners, with a final decision on prices expected after the association’s meeting this weekend.
