The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved the installation of a state-of-the-art biomechanics laboratory at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore as part of a major upgrade to its high-performance facilities.
The existing NCA building, which has been in place since 2006, will undergo extensive renovation and modernization to accommodate the new biomechanics lab and other advanced training facilities.
Speaking about the project, PCB Director of High Performance Aaqib Javed said renovation work on the building will begin shortly after the approval for the new laboratory.
“The building has been part of the National Cricket Academy since 2006. We are now renovating and upgrading it. Approval has been granted for the installation of a state-of-the-art biomechanics lab, while new high-speed cameras and advanced software have already been procured,” Aaqib said.
He added that the upgraded facility will include the latest biomechanics equipment, a modern gym on the upper floor, and a swimming pool within the academy premises to support players’ recovery and rehabilitation.
The former Pakistan fast bowler also expressed confidence that the biomechanics laboratory will be completed and fully operational within the next five to six months.
“The previous cameras and other equipment had become outdated and were no longer suitable for use. We have now acquired the latest technology, which will allow us to analyze bowlers’ actions as well as assess batters and fielders outdoors,” he said.
He further explained that the existing biomechanics setup only allowed indoor assessments, while the upgraded system will significantly expand the academy’s ability to conduct detailed performance analysis in outdoor training environments.
