LDA Seeks FIRs Against Two Lahore Housing Schemes

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has sought the registration of FIRs against the owners, sponsors, and developers of two private housing schemes over alleged violations of the LDA Act, 1975, and the LDA Private Housing Scheme Rules, 2014.

According to official letters sent to Green Town Police Station, both schemes allegedly failed to resolve sewerage issues or provide proper sewage disposal systems despite receiving multiple notices from the LDA.

One case involves a housing society near Block D/2, IEP Town Sector A on Defence Road. The LDA said the management ignored repeated notices to improve the sewerage system. In another case, the authority sought an FIR against the management of a nearby private land subdivision, alleging it also failed to address sewerage problems.

The LDA further claimed the subdivision carried out an illegal extension by constructing a boundary wall that encroached on land reserved for a public building. It also said the subdivision had not been approved by the competent authority.

Chief Metropolitan Planner Riaz Hussain Goraya confirmed that the applications had been sent to police. Responding to questions about naming MNA Tariq Bashir Cheema, he said LDA rules require FIR applications against the owner, sponsor, and developer.

Cheema told The News he was unaware of the applications but confirmed he owns the land and had handed it over to a developer. He said the society’s sewerage system had been laid and talks were underway to connect it to a neighboring sewer line.
