The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi has postponed the launch of e-passport services for Pakistani citizens living in the United Arab Emirates.
The service was scheduled to begin on July 20, 2026. However, the embassy has now delayed it until further notice.
Technical and Administrative Issues Delay Launch
In a public notice issued on July 19, the embassy cited unavoidable technical and administrative reasons for the postponement.
As a result, the embassy will not accept or process applications under the e-passport category until it makes a further announcement.
The embassy did not provide a revised launch date.
Machine-Readable Passport Services to Continue
The embassy clarified that the delay will not affect existing Machine-Readable Passport services.
Pakistani citizens in the UAE can continue to apply for new MRPs or renew their existing passports under the current procedure.
These services will remain available without interruption.
New E-Passport Launch Date to Be Announced Later
The embassy thanked the Pakistani community for its understanding and cooperation.
It said it would announce a revised date for the start of e-passport services in due course.
The embassy also advised Pakistani residents to regularly check its official website and social media accounts for the latest updates.
