Chinese Buyers Place Huge Order for Pakistani Rice

The Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) has secured orders for 60,000 metric tons of Pakistani rice from leading Chinese buyers during a trade visit to Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

According to REAP, the orders reflect growing demand for Pakistani rice in China and highlight Chinese importers’ confidence in its quality, aroma, competitive pricing, and reliable supply.

The delegation, led by REAP Senior Vice Chairman Muhammad Jawed Jillani, held a series of business-to-business meetings with major Chinese rice importers, distributors, and traders. The discussions showcased Pakistan’s premium basmati and non-basmati rice varieties while exploring opportunities to expand bilateral trade and establish long-term commercial partnerships.

Jillani described the outcome of the visit as a major achievement for Pakistan’s rice export sector, saying the 60,000-ton order demonstrates the effectiveness of REAP’s efforts to promote Pakistani rice in international markets and strengthen trade ties with China.

He said China remains one of the most important strategic markets for Pakistan’s rice industry and expressed confidence that such initiatives would help increase rice exports while deepening economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

Former REAP Chairman Rafique Suleman said Pakistani rice has built a strong reputation among Chinese consumers due to its quality, aroma, consistency, and value. He added that continued engagement with international buyers and regular trade promotion activities would help Pakistan further expand its share of the global rice market.
