The Punjab Home Department has extended the ban on outdoor drone flying across the province for another 30 days, citing the prevailing security situation and the need to protect public safety.
According to an official notification issued on July 22, 2026, the government extended the restrictions imposed under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898. The order states that authorities decided to continue the ban to safeguard public peace, protect lives and property, and prevent any untoward incidents.
The government said the extension applies to outdoor drone operations throughout Punjab.
However, the notification exempts the use of small drones for indoor activities, including events held in halls and marquees. Organizers will remain responsible for ensuring the safe operation of drones within confined indoor spaces.
The order also exempts drones used for agricultural, irrigation, and research purposes, as well as other activities approved in writing by the Safe Drone Usage Committee (SDUC).
The Home Department said the extension became necessary because of the overall security situation and the need to ensure the safety of people, public buildings, and other installations across the province.
The notification was issued by the Punjab Home Department and circulated to relevant provincial authorities, including the Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, and district police officers for implementation.
