Pakistan’s football exports suffered a sharp decline in June 2026, falling nearly 39 percent year-on-year, despite growing global recognition of Pakistani-made footballs and their use at major international sporting events.
According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), football export earnings dropped to $13.238 million in June, compared with more than $21.7 million during the same month last year.
Exports also declined on a monthly basis, falling 38.54 percent compared with May 2026, when shipments were valued at over $21.5 million.
The decline comes despite Pakistan maintaining its position as one of the world’s leading football manufacturing hubs. Footballs produced in Pakistan, particularly from Sialkot, have gained international recognition for decades, with local manufacturers supplying major global markets and sporting events.
However, despite the weak June performance, the overall picture for the fiscal year remained positive. Pakistan’s football exports increased by 11.72 percent during FY2025-26, reaching $256.7 million compared with the previous year.
Industry stakeholders say the monthly decline could be linked to changing global demand, shipment cycles, or market conditions. They stressed that maintaining Pakistan’s competitive position will require greater value addition, expansion into new markets, and stronger international branding.
