Trump Tells Saudis to Recognize Israel Again

US President Donald Trump has said Saudi Arabia will only be allowed to move ahead with a civilian nuclear cooperation agreement if it formally recognizes Israel by joining the Abraham Accords.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the proposed civil nuclear agreement, which excludes uranium enrichment and is limited to peaceful purposes, would only be approved if Riyadh accepts Israel.

The remarks came days after Washington announced a landmark nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia has not commented on Trump’s statement.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump had repeatedly conveyed the same condition to Saudi leaders. She said the agreement would not proceed unless the Saudis join the Abraham Accords.

According to the US Department of Energy, the potential nuclear package includes a peaceful cooperation agreement. It will be submitted to the US Congress for review.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) also confirmed that it is aware of the planned US-Saudi civil nuclear cooperation agreement and of preparations to implement international verification measures.
