Philips Gaming Monitor Brings E-Sports Grade Speed for Only $280

Philips has launched a new 27-inch gaming monitor in China, the 27M2N5500X, offering competitive esports-grade performance at a surprisingly accessible price point.

The monitor is going for only $280 with top-tier speed, sharp resolution, and premium features.

Given that Philips gaming monitors are regularly distributed in Pakistan through local tech retailers and authorized importers, an official or grey-market Pakistani release is highly anticipated in the coming months.

Esports-Grade Speed

Built around a 27-inch Fast IPS panel, the display balances sharp 2560 x 1440 visuals with extreme speed. It features a native 400Hz refresh rate that can be overclocked up to 425Hz.

To eliminate motion blur during fast-paced gameplay, the monitor boasts a 1ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time and an ultra-fast 0.3ms Moving Picture Response Time (MPRT). Standard variable refresh rate support—including G-Sync compatibility—prevents screen tearing. Additionally, Philips has included its proprietary “Zero-Sense Sync Acceleration” feature to minimize input latency between the monitor and connected graphics cards.

Color Accuracy

Despite its focus on speed, the 27M2N5500X delivers strong color fidelity and brightness:

  • Color Coverage: Supports 10-bit color depth, covering 100% of the sRGB color space and 97% of the DCI-P3 spectrum.
  • Factory Calibration: Arrives pre-calibrated with a Delta E accuracy rating of less than 2.
  • Brightness & Contrast: Offers a typical brightness of 350 nits, a standard 1000:1 contrast ratio, and basic VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.

Software Features

  • An AI-assisted crosshair that changes color dynamically to contrast against game backgrounds.
  • Sniper Window, a digital zoom tool designed to assist with precise targeting.
  • A Shadow Enhancement feature that brightens dark in-game areas without overexposing lighter regions.

For general eye health during long sessions, the display incorporates circular polarization along with low blue light filters to mitigate eye strain.

Flexibility and Connectivity

The physical design centers on comfort and adjustability. The included ergonomic stand provides up to 130mm of height adjustment, alongside tilt, swivel, and full pivot rotation. Users who prefer monitor arms can mount it using standard 100 x 100mm VESA hardware.

Connectivity options consist of:

  • 1x DisplayPort 1.4 port
  • 2x HDMI 2.1 ports
  • 1x 3.5mm headphone jack

The monitor also supports Picture-in-Picture (PIP) and Picture-by-Picture (PBP) display modes, enabling users to stream or view multiple input sources at the same time.
