New WhatsApp Update Brings Four New Upgrades

WhatsApp is rolling out four major features to global users with a new update, with the main upgrade being account creation directly on iPads.

The most significant change allows users to set up a brand-new WhatsApp account directly on an iPad. Previously, tablet owners had to link their app to an existing smartphone profile. Users can now register, set up, and run their accounts entirely on the tablet without owning or linking a phone. The update substantially boosts usability for the iPad app, which debuted last year.

WhatsApp has upgraded its integration with vehicle infotainment systems. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can now process incoming messages aloud and send voice responses hands-free. Drivers can also place phone calls, review call histories, and access favorite contacts directly from their vehicle displays.

PDF files now open instantly inside WhatsApp without requiring a prior download. Users can perform basic markups, such as annotating and highlighting text, directly within the application interface.

Spotify and Apple Music subscribers can post their currently playing tracks directly to their WhatsApp Status using the share screens in those streaming apps.

Meta is currently rolling out all four upgrades to global WhatsApp users.
