Mentally Challenged Teen Girl Dies After Falling into Open Manhole in Punjab

An 18-year-old mentally challenged girl lost her life after falling into an open manhole in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab prompting criticism over the alleged failure of local authorities to address repeated complaints.

The incident occurred in Aslam Town, where the girl reportedly fell into an uncovered main sewer. Rescue teams later recovered her body and handed it over to her family.

Residents of the area said they had been complaining to the Municipal Committee administrator for the past four days, warning about the open manhole and the danger it posed to the public. However, they alleged that no action was taken to cover it or secure the area.
