SBP Buys Over $15 Billion From Market

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted net foreign exchange interventions of $15.4 billion between June 2024 and April 2026.

According to data compiled by Arif Habib Limited using SBP figures, the central bank recorded net foreign exchange interventions of $667 million in April 2026.

The data also showed that SBP’s foreign exchange reserves rose significantly during the period, increasing from around $9.3 billion in June 2024 to $15.9 billion by April 2026, despite month-to-month fluctuations.

Reserve growth accelerated during several months, particularly in mid 2025, when the SBP recorded one of its largest monthly increases. Net foreign exchange interventions also remained positive throughout the period, highlighting the central bank’s continued presence in the foreign exchange market.

The latest figures indicate that while SBP reserves declined by $531 million on a month-over-month basis in April 2026, the central bank maintained net foreign exchange interventions of $667 million during the month.
