Saudi Prince Dies in London Hotel After Alleged Alcohol and Drug Overdose

A Saudi prince died in a London hotel after consuming alcohol and several drugs.

Prince Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Al Saud, 29, was found dead in the bathroom of his room at the Marriott Hotel in Kensington, west London, on November 25, 2025.

The prince had checked into the hotel on November 19 for a one-week stay. He was last seen on CCTV leaving the hotel to smoke a cigarette on the evening before his death.

A cleaner later entered his locked room on the fifth floor and found him fully clothed on the bathroom floor. Hotel security and ambulance staff attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead.

The Inner West London Coroner’s Court heard that toxicology tests found 222mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his body. This was almost three times the legal drink-driving limit of 80mg and was within a range that could lead to a coma.

Tests also found potentially fatal levels of Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), commonly known as a party drug. Traces of cannabis, alprazolam, also known as Xanax, and other anti-anxiety medicines were also found.

The prince had been struggling with alcohol and Xanax use before his death.

He had received treatment at the Priory Clinic in Roehampton, south-west London, in August 2025, around three months before his death. During his stay, he underwent detox treatment for alcohol, benzodiazepines, and the anti-anxiety medication pregabalin.

A consultant psychiatrist said that he had responded well to treatment and completed the detox without physical side effects.
