Famous Pakistani TikTok star, Jannat Mirza, has sparked some major controversies this year. The 22-year-old has gained 11.5 million fans on her TikTok account. In fact, she’s the only Pakistani female celebrity to have garnered such a massive fan-following on social media. But did you know her great-grandfather did something legendary as well? If we are to take Jannat at her word that is.
in 2018, Jannat’s name started appearing on TikTok, and soon after she became known as one of the most popular faces on the Chinese video-sharing platform. Jannat Mirza has been a part of several advertisements and photoshoots for big-name Pakistani brands.
She made headlines with her debut performance in Sarmad Qadeer’s Shayar. And is rumored to be working on her debut as an actress with popular director Syed Noor.
It seems that the famous model from Faisalabad has decided to let us in on another family secret.
In one of her interviews, Jannat revealed her great-grandfather’s legend. She said:
Electricity was made available in Faisalabad because of my great-grandfather.
Ayub Khan [Former President of Pakistan] was at the airport when my great-grandfather stopped him. He then held his hand and said he won’t let him go till he ensures 24-hour electricity in the city.
The TikTok sensation also added that prior to her great-grandfather’s conversation with Ayub Khan, electricity was only supplied for 8 hours in Faisalabad. But it was because of him that a 24-hour supply of electricity was made possible for Faisalabadis.
