Apart from acting and modeling, Iqra Aziz is playing her part in making the country a safer place for women. The Ranjha Ranjha Kardi star became the first-ever actress in recent memory to speak out about street harassment.
The actress is an avid social media user who keeps fans updated on her epic style and personal life. Taking to Instagram, the Suno Chanda actress shared a picture alongside American actress Eva Longoria from the Sand Up training, which took place in Dubai.
She wrote;
“Had the honor of attending a live Stand-Up training at the Dubai Expo; organized by L’Oréal Paris in collaboration with Hollaback.”
She further added
“I got to meet Eva Longoria who led the session and explained the 5D methodology to combat sexual harassment in public spaces. We can all play our part by taking the training.”
Stand Up is a training program “designed to help prevent street harassment and build safe, inclusive spaces for all”. It trains people to become “Upstanders”, individuals who speak up when they see someone being harassed, helping “build a culture where street harassment is seen as unacceptable behavior”.
Iqra had donned a white outfit for the night and paired her look with a royal blue blazer. The actor kept her tresses flowing and her make-up on point.
According to the program, 80% of women have experienced sexual harassment in public spaces and 76% of people have already witnessed sexual harassment in public spaces. Sexual harassment includes “staring, leering, inappropriate and unwanted gestures”, as well as “sexually suggestive commenter jokes about one’s body” amongst various other forms of actions.
The Khuda Aur Mohabbat star also urged her followers to play their part by taking training to help prevent street harassment as well.
