Legendary cricket star Shahid Afridi defends Pakistani biryani after a Bangladeshi student claims Bengali biryani is better.
Pakistanis may not be the most thriving nation in the world, and we accept our shortcomings. However, there is one thing we are certainly passionate about, and that’s food – particularly biryani. The iconic dish has variants in India and all across Southeast Asia, but EVERYBODY knows Pakistani biryani is the best.
However, one student from Bangladesh decided to take a stand and flat out claim that Bengali biryani is the better. Not only did this young student have the audacity to make such a controversial statement, but she also says it to the most “Pakistanist” Pakistani – Shahid Afridi!
Recently, the swashbuckling cricketer sat down for a Q&A session related to the Shahid Afridi Foundation. One Bengali student stepped up to ask Lala a question. During which, she claims that her country’s biryani is best.
“Everywhere I go, you guys only eat machli (fish) with rice,” Afridi retorts.
However, Afridi calmly offered to host the young “misguided” girl, promising to offer her a ‘true Pakistani biryani‘ experience.
