Seems like residents of Sindh are in for a treat. As part of the government’s initiatives to bolster cultural activities in the province, Governor of Sindh Imran Ismail has announced that a “biryani festival” will be held in the metropolis every year.

Imran Ismail revealed this plan while addressing a lunch organized by the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP). The rice exporters urged him to celebrate the culinary delights that Sindh had to offer, and proposed holding a biryani festival for all and sundry. The Sindh Governor couldn’t have said no to such a mouth-watering idea of a festival anyways.

REAP chairman Safdar Hussain had this to say during the lunch:

“It is the exporters responsibility to increase exports and support us. If our recommendations are followed then Pakistan can increase exports to $4 billion.”

Sounds like a good plan to us, and who are we to say no to more biryani anyways? Lets hope there are all sorts of varieties of biryani here be it pulao, Hyderabadi, Sindhi, mutton, beef, and so on.
