As tickets for his Abu Dhabi show sold out, Arjit Singh had a fan moment of his own. The singer gave a shoutout to Pakistani artists.

Despite the restrictions on Pakistani artists and their ability to collaborate with Indian creators and artists, the Agar Tum Sath Ho singer did not fear controversy’ and held back his love.

While the show’s attendees posted moments from the concert online, a video of the vocalist specifically praising Atif Aslam landed online. Arjit Singh then moved on to sing Pehli Nazar Mein. Yes, he sang an Atif Aslam song before going on to question the ban on Pakistani artists in India.

He made it a point to ask why Pakistani singers, songs had been barred in India. Going on to say;

“Now I will ask something controversial, why have we barred Pakistani songs? Atif Aslam and Shafqat Amanat Ali are two of my favorite singers and I don’t give a damn.”

In the video, the Indian singer expressed his concerns about across-the-border singers being barred from his country. Arjit Singh then asserted he will raise these questions.

“I have a question. It’s a wrong question, a controversial question. But still, I want to ask, … I don’t follow the news but tell me one thing, has music from Pakistan has been banned in India? Is it still barred or has the ban been lifted?”
