Armeena Khan Faces Backlash For Uploading a ‘Bold’ Photo

When will this moral policing stop?

Armeena Khan

Canadian-Pakistani film actress Armeena Khan has been wowing social media followers with fierce and stunning photographs on a regular basis. The model first appeared in the limelight in 2011 with the role of Preeti in the Pakistani sitcom Dolly Aunty Ka Dream Villa. However, well-deserved and fitting her place might be in showbiz, the 33-year-old seems to have struck a nerve amongst the Pakistani audience. The actress’s recent ‘bold’ and ‘fierce’ photograph has caused unwanted outrage on social media.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the public make a huge deal out of a celebrity’s photo. Last year, it was Esra Bilgiç who came into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. You might remember the actress from Diriliş: Ertuğrul where she played the role of Halime.

The Turkish actress was highly criticized for her pictures, and more so her attires, on social media. This time, it is our very own Armeena Khan who has become the victim of online trolls. Yesterday, the Bin Roye actress posted a stunning photo of herself on her Instagram account.

The black skin-fitted dress- matched with black high heels- looked marvelous on the star. However, it may have been a little too short and revealing for her Pakistani audience. Netizens took it upon themselves to bash the actress and do all the ‘moral policing’ they could.

Amongst all the hateful comments were also death threats and extremely demeaning remarks. But before we get into the reactions, let’s take a look at the photo that has stirred the pot:

Her photo was taken by the fashion photographer Palle Hansen, and Armeena captioned the photo:

While the actress has turned off the comments for this photo, Bol News got their hands on some screenshots. Let’s take a look:

Armeena Khan Responds

Unapologetically herself, the Bin Roye actress had a savage comeback for each of the comments. She also took to her Instagram stories to reveal that she will be taking action against people sending her death threats. Armeena wrote:

It’s time for me to sleep, so I’ve disabled the comments. Will turn them back on tomorrow, when we can monitor for death threats and extremist activity. A lot of abusive accounts (already) will be reported to the Cyberwing and Instagram for bullying and harassment. Goodnight

In another post, she revealed that she is unbothered by the comments on her posts.

The irony of it all is that the same people- who attacked her on Instagram- sent her photographer friend requests on Facebook.

The model also believes that by backbiting her, these trolls are doing nothing but ‘eating into their own good deeds’.

Pakistani trolls had the opportunity to learn their lesson when they broke the Esra Bilgiç controversy. But it seems like Armeena Khan will have to remind them of her rights. What do you think of this story? Let us know in the comments section.
