Asim Azhar Reveals Why Jo Tu Na Mila Sounds Similar to Another Song

Here’s the complete story.

Asim Azhar jo tu na mila

Asim Azhar, the Pakistani singer/songwriter, and actor, was recently accused of plagiarizing the music composition by a Japanese composer Joe Hisashi. He responded to these allegations and cleared the air.

His song Jo Tu Na Mila has received a lot of love and support from his fans. It even crossed 100 million views on YouTube.

So, it came as a shock when one Facebook user revealed the music was actually from the song ‘A Town with an Ocean View’. The song was composed for an animated movie, Kiki’s Delivery Service, in the 1980s.

Asim Azhar responded to the allegations and told The Express Tribune that the melody had been acquired through proper legal means. He said,

That part of the song has been sampled through proper and legal means under Universal Music India, who released the song.

The description for his song on YouTube reads that the rights to the music are licensed to UMG (on behalf of Universal Music India). He further added,

Such a big company won’t let such a big release go just like that.

Kudos to Asim Azhar for his clarification. After the backlash over his song Tum Tum, these allegations would have taken a toll on his career.
