What happened here?

Cyberbullying is a serious crime. But apparently that doesn’t stop some Pakistani fanboys and fangirls from shoving their two cents down someone’s throat. At first, we used to throw our muft ke mashware whenever we felt like it. But with social media permeating our lives, it seems now the focus is mostly on demeaning the other person. Ayesha Omar faced a similar situation recently.

On Monday, the Pakistani actress shared a picture of herself beside the ocean. She captioned it ‘Advice from an Ocean’, and one of her followers decided to troll her apparently because of the outfit she wore.

“Please is main he doob jao (Please, drown yourself in this ocean)” the follower wrote.

Hitting back at the troll, Ayesha said,

“Kyon behen. Humain tairna aata hai! (Why sis. I know how to swim)”

The Conversation Didn’t End Here

This followed a series of hateful as well as supportive comments. Another Instagram user replied in the thread, saying,

“terna ata hy per sharm ni ati (you know how to swim but don’t you feel ashamed?)”

In her reply, the Bulbulay actress said,

“Kiss baat kee jani? I don’t feel ashamed of myself. Why do you?”

A lot of people came in support of Ayesha Omar. However, these supporters were also trolled.

But leave it to Ayesha, she did not let it slide easily. With utmost patience and composure, Ayesha asked the troll to refrain herself from using harsh words for her fans and friends

“My account is a place of love, tolerance, motivation and positivity. If you try to ruin that, I’ll be compelled to block you.”

However, there were also some supporters who went too far with their replies. Once again, Ayesha stepped in and asked them to choose their words wisely.

“We have to try and deal with things in a kinder or smarter way, even if we are feeling hurt and angry… Also, I consider you family now and my family has to reply to hate with love. That’s the only way to change anything.”

Ayesha Omar handled the whole situation with grace and we are proud of her. As she said, kindness and love can change anything and that’s what we shall practice.
