It’s about the time the world needs to break free from stereotypes and know more about the Pakistan that’s brimming with goodness. And British journalist Peter Oborne’s short film is a stepping stone to this cause.

On Thursday, September 3, ‘Peter Oborne: The People of Pakistan’ was launched at the Pakistan High Commission. The short film gives a fascinating account of the people, culture, scenic beauty, and cricketing brilliance of Pakistan.

“Mr. Peter Oborne, a senior British journalist, came up with the idea of the film during his successful cricketing and tourism trip to Pakistan in 2019, along with a 25-member group comprising British journalists, authors, parliamentarians, business people and amateur cricketers.”

“The film was shot and produced by a British filmmaker Ahmed Peerbux who was part of the visiting group. The tour was so fascinating and entertaining that Peter decided to make a short film on it.”

Oborne took to his Twitter to share the short film and wrote,

“Our love letter to Pakistan.”

This four-minute-long video details the exciting adventures of the foreigners in Pakistan. Directed by Ahmed Peerbux, we can hear Oborne’s running commentary throughout the film.

Oborne and the group had a lot of good things to say about the people, their hospitality, and their culture. They were fascinated by the cricket talent in the country and admired the food and the gifts they received from the locals.

“British journalist Peter Oborne and his cricket team the Wounded Tigers encountered nothing but kindness, generosity and the highest hospitality when they went to Pakistan in 2019. He wants the world to know: don’t believe everything you read in the newspapers about this place; you must experience and taste it for yourself!” read the caption of the video.

The Pakistan High Commission also shared the video of the launch where Oborne thanked the High Commission for their support. High Commissioner Mohammad Nafees Zakaria also appreciated him for portraying a positive image of Pakistan.
