Celebrated TV Actor Ali Ejaz Passes Away at 77

2018 took away the star from TV Drama “Khawaja and Son”

Ali Ejaz, a renowned name in Pakistani showbiz, passed away today due to cardiac arrest.

The actor was in his native Lahore when he suffered a heart attack. He was 77.

The triple threat actor that conquered the realms of film, television and theater started off his career in 1967. Ali Ejaz was most known for his role in the television sitcom Khawaja and Son.

Prior to the heart attack, the actor was already bedridden, due to the onset of paralysis some 12-13 years ago.

As impressive as his acting was, Ejaz’s accolades include the prestigious Presidential Pride of Performance award which he received on August 14, 1993.

Many notable personalities conveyed their condolences when news of the actor’s passing came out. The Federal Minister of Information & Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain also expressed grief on the passing of the renowned actor.

Pakistan has been deprived of a versatile artist and he will always be remembered due to his remarkable services in the film and TV arena.

Other politicians to offer condolences include Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Provincial Information Minister Punjab Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan.

 

People from the industry in particular were devastated by the loss.

 

Ali Ejaz’s artistic services include 106 movies, of which 84 were in Punjabi, 22 in Urdu, and even 1 in Pashtu.

His works include Nisaniyat, Dubai Chalo, Dada Ustad, Pyar Da Palla, Bhaiyyan Di Jori, Yamla Jutt, Bad Nalo Badna,,. Bura Ashiq, Mera Naa Sadhu, Shetani Laila Majnu Zulm Kai nai, Phalda Sadha Rasta, Badal Sohratay, Jawai Mister, Aflatoon Naukartay, Malik Wohdi Daa, Sawal Aey Baoji, Ji Dushman Pyara, Andheri Nagri, Dhi rani Chor Machaey Shor, Ishq mera Naa Bharosa, Sala Sahab, Athra Puttar Aap sey Kiya Parda, and Ishq Samandar.

While 2018 is leaving, it has taken with it a number of celebrated individuals. Literary rebels such as Fehmida Riaz and socio-political icons like Asma Jahangir also passed away during the year.

Other losses to performing arts include actor Qazi Wajid. The actor was also a pioneer of radio dramas and his works in the genre continued till present time when he passed.

The culinary world saw the loss of Zubaida Apa and internationally acclaimed chef Tahir Chaudhry.
