News of Kaavan the Asian elephant’s release brought lots of Pakistani wildlife advocates some relief. But to have Cher, the iconic American singer, and actress, endorse the decision of the Pakistan High Court was the Cher-ry on top that we all needed. Now, news of her visit to Pakistan to bid farewell to the giant 36-year-old mammal is surfacing on the internet.

If you don’t know who Kaavan is, we’ve got you covered! Kaavan was gifted to Pakistan by the Sri Lankan government in 1985. Since then, the Asian elephant spent his time in Islamabad Zoo. But after the passing of his partner Saheli in 2012, Kaavan was left alone and depressed.
After combined efforts of Owais Awan, Friends of Islamabad Zoo, and Free the Wild, Kaavan is finally getting out of the cruel environment where his needs were neglected. So, why does the 74-year-old Strong Enough singer care about this Pakistani bred elephant?

Cher is a partner at the ‘Free the Wild’ organization and has been working on a global level to put an end to the mistreatment of wild animals in captivity. And since Kaavan is set to be released to the Cambodia Wildlife Sanctuary (where he will be rehabilitated) Cher is more than excited.

Now, Cher herself has stated in a Tweet that she will be there for the transfer of Kaavan from Pakistan to Sri Lanka. Not only that, but she also added that she can’t wait to sing to the giant mammal. Here’s what she wrote:
