Disheartened Johnny Depp: ‘Never Struck Any Woman In My Life’

Johnny Depp testifies during his defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard

Recently, Johnny Depp testified during his defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard. In a three-hour testimony, the Oscar-nominated star revealed some in-depth details about Heard’s allegations of domestic abuse, his history with substance abuse and their relationship.

Depp stated that he felt compelled to sue his ex-wife Amber Heard after she accused him of domestic violence. He said he noticed problems with the relationship when she chastised him for taking his own boots off.

“Once you notice something like that, you notice other tidbits, and things come out,” said the Charlie and The Chocolate Factory star.

He further added;

“My goal is the truth because it killed me that all these people I had met over the years … that these people would think that I was a fraud.”

Heard has accused Johnny Depp of physically and sexually assaulting her on multiple occasions before and during their brief marriage. Depp sued after Heard made an indirect reference to those accusations in 2018 in a piece she wrote for The Washington Post.

Depp flatly denied ever hitting Heard, calling the domestic allegations against him disturbing, heinous and;

“not based in any species of truth.”

He went on by saying;

“Never did I myself reach the point of striking Ms Heard in any way, nor have I ever struck any woman in my life.”

“It’s very strange when one day you’re Cinderella so to speak, and then in 0.6 seconds you’re Quasimodo,” Depp added. “I didn’t deserve that, nor did my children, nor did the people who believed in me for all these years”.

Heard has said the first time she was assaulted was when Depp slapped her in 2013 after she made fun of a tattoo he had — one that used to say “Winona Forever” when he was dating the actress Winona Ryder that he altered to “Wino Forever” after they broke up.

“It didn’t happen, why would I take such great offense to someone making fun of a tattoo on my body? That allegation never made any sense to me.” clarified Depp

Witnesses called by Depp’s lawyers have included friends of the actor and a doctor and a nurse who said they treated him for substance abuse. The witnesses testified that they were aware of arguments between the couple but had not witnessed physical abuse by Depp towards Heard.

Depp’s testimony is expected to stretch into Wednesday. Heard is scheduled to testify later in the trial.
