There are times when people go to extremes to affirm their beliefs. That’s what one doctor in India did to assert the benefits of cow dung and urine.
In order to assert his claims about the medicinal benefits of cow urine and cow dung, a medical doctor ate cow dung and sipped on the bovine’s urine on camera. He then posted the now viral video online. The doctor claims this will cleanse his body, mind, and soul.
In the viral video, Dr. Manoj Mittal from India is seen standing in a cow pen, surrounded by a few cows while holding a piece of dung in his hand.
The doctor in the video explains the concept of “Punch Gravia” or the five elements that an animal can provide. He then picks up a small amount of cow dung, puts it in his mouth, and eats it. He says that it will ‘purify the body‘, that is, it will cleanse the body, mind, and soul.
Dr. Manoj Mittal claimed that his mother used to end her fast (avoiding food and drink) by eating cow dung. Even claiming that there are many benefits of washing hands on the body of animals, so pregnant women should use cow dung for normal delivery of babies.

This belief is not uncommon in India, but this doctor went as far as to try this idea on video and then post it online. Additionally, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party has allocated millions of dollars for research on products that use animal waste to treat diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
Meanwhile, several leaders of Narendra Modi’s right-wing ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also advocated the use of dung and urine to treat the Coronavirus.
There is no comprehensive scientific evidence to back the claim that bovine feces and urine hold medicinal benefits.
While any animal excrement is rich in minerals, especially sodium, potassium, creatinine, phosphorus, and epithelial cells, making it great for fertilizer, it’s packed with bacteria such as E. Coli too.
Science does not support the ‘health benefits’ of consuming feces in any way.
