Ex-Finance Minister Miftah Ismail is Craving Nihari in Karachi After His Resignation

The ‘Cocomo Guy’ can’t wait to return home and try out some of Karachi’s famous eateries.

The only thing on Miftah Ismail‘s mind after he resigned from his post as the federal Minister for Finance is some good nihari, and he even mentioned the top eateries on his list that he will hit up once he’s back in Karachi.

The PML-N leader has had a rough tenure as the federal Finance Minister and has made many great sacrifices for the Pakistani economy, like downsizing a packet of Cocomo from 5 to just 3 biscuits, some of which are just sad, empty shells sans the chocolate filling. Gutsy move, to say the least.

The 57-year-old shared his official resignation on Twitter yesterday and became the fifth Finance Minister to resign in four years.

The PML-N politician wants nothing more to do with helping to salvage the country from the devastation of the recent floods and the country’s crumbling economy. He’s done all that he could and now, he just wants to go and be reunited with his one true love — nihari.

That’s his first order of business after his resignation, as per his tweet this evening.

In response to a curious tweep about the first restaurant he will grace, Ismail also disclosed that he has already shortlisted a handful of places to sample his favorite curry. He revealed,

I am going to visit Zahid, Idris & Javed Nihari houses, Al-Kebab, Ghaffar and Meerut Kebab, & Gola at Dhoraji. Many choices fortunately.

Ismail is spoiled for choices here. Let’s take a trip down his food lane and check out Karachi’s most famous eateries.

Zahid Restaurant at Mansfield St. in Saddar Town

Javed Nihari on Dastagir Road, Gulberg Town

Their haleem and pulao are also worth a try.

Haji Idrees Nihari on Ranchore Lane

Of course, no meal is complete without some delicious kebabs.

Meerut Famous Kebab Parathas on Jamshed Road

Finally, we end the night with Dhoraji Dharbar’s Famous Gola Ganda.
