Health Minister Cautions Pakistanis To Get COVID-19 Vaccine ‘At Your Own Risk’

Punjab Health Minister, Dr. Yasmin Rashid on Monday warned people to vaccinate ‘at their own risk’, as the COVID-19 vaccine may carry side effects.

While addressing a press conference at Directorate General of Public Relations (DGPR), Lahore, Dr. Yasmin Rashid claimed that the vaccine has also caused deaths in some countries.

“Although research on corona is still going on all around the world, news of deaths of some COVID-19 vaccine recipients in certain parts of world is disturbing.”

 

Chinese firm, Sino Pharma has donated 500,000 doses of vaccines to Pakistan’s healthcare workers. The Health Minister expressed her gratitude to the Chinese government and revealed that the first consignment of the vaccine has reached Pakistan.

“The Punjab will start vaccinating people in the next two days,” she said.

Furthermore, she said that we can’t say how long the coronavirus vaccine remains effective yet. Although, the vaccine may have side effects, they public will be made aware of them prior to the vaccination.

“No one, even the COVID-19 patients, will be vaccinated by force. We will make the public aware of the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine.”

Addressing the nation, Dr. Yasmin also said that the pandemic still hasn’t ended and people must follow safety precautions.
