What happens when you put holiday gifts and holiday movies together? You get something like this new Google Home Devices ad set to a Home Alone theme.
The ad for Google Home Devices titled “Home Alone Again” even has Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister. The routine goes as we know it from the Christmas classic Home Alone except with Google Assistant to upgrade ‘Operation Kevin’.
Although the other scenes from the movie, which were redone in a modern setting with a smart assistant, was fun to watch and hit all sorts of nostalgic notes, me thinks the ‘Automated Operation Kevin’ was definitely the best part.
This is the part when the smart home helps defend itself against a possible Joe Pesci-like intruder. This doesn’t help but makes us wonder, does that mean Home Alone wouldn’t have been real in a time other than the 90s? Before you start to believe your life to be a lie, its safe to say that Home Alone 4 did feature a smart home. Back then the role of Kevin McCallister was played by Mike Weinberg.
The boy did a pretty good job, but back to the main point, Home Alone would still be real with a smart home.
To add to the holiday feels, Google’s Home Assistant now even features a Home Alone theme. So next time you ask the assistant if you’re forgetting something the device can respond with a “KEVINNNNNNNNNN” scream, just like in the movies.
