President Dr. Arif Alvi conferred Pakistan civil awards on 253 Pakistani citizens as well as foreign nationals on the occasion of the diamond jubilee of the country. But Mahira Khan and Urwa Hocane highlighted the works of Qavi Khan in particular.
Among those 253 people awarded civilian honors on Sunday are several artists such as veteran star, Qavi Khan received Nishan-i-Imtiaz.
Taking to Instagram, the Udaari star Urwa Hocane congratulated the Andhera Ujala star and shared a tribute;
“Qavi Khan Saab – you are an inspiration! … This post is dedicated to celebrating this institution of a person who turned 80 this year and has the most energy and patience on set! Yesterday on our drama sets he received the announcement that he has been awarded Nishan-i-Imtiaz, his third award from the government of Pakistan after being honored with Pride of Performance in 1980 and Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2012.”
She highlighted how he’s given decades of his life to art.
“He received his accolades for working in Pakistani films, Television, Radio Pakistan and Theatre. He has acted in over 200 films as his contribution to the fields of art. Congratulations Qavi Saab – more love and respect your way.”
Meanwhile, his Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad co-star, Mahira Khan penned a heartfelt note for the veteran actor.
“Qavi Sahab, the legend, the actor par excellence. At the age of 79 stands tall amongst a plethora of young artists, because to date, he is the most dedicated of them all. He is always prepared. He loves what he does and you can see it in every frame.”
She also talked about what an honor it is to have worked with him and learned from him.
“He is generous with his words to actors like me and others, who watch him in awe. I’ve learnt so much about this man. He’s had his fair share of failures in life.. and still continues to do what he does with a smile which oozes both humility and pride. … What an honour to have him amongst us. Alhumdulillah. Mohd Qavi Khan Sahab- you are my hero. PS Just look at that hand he puts on his head in this scene. That little gesture, it’s the whole scene for me.”
More About Qavi Khan
The veteran actor has given several decades of his life, 40 years to be exact, to the entertainment industry. His works are distributed across television, theater, and radio.
He has over 200 films and telefilms to his name. He has also produced his own works including 13 Urdu and Punjabi films. Aside from that he has one directorial project to his name, the movie The Tiger Gang. The film is based on the Kommissar X Eurospy. It cast Tony Kendall, Brad Harris, Gisela Hahn, Mohammad Ali, and Zeba along with Qavi Khan.
Meanwhile, he continues to do radio dramas with Radio Pakistan.
Currently, we can see him in Fahad Mustafa’s Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad. While on the small screen, his 2017 drama serial Alif Allah Aur Insaan with Mikaal Zulfiqar, Kubra Khan made waves. He played a Sufi guide in the Sufi spiritual series.
