Gun safety is a very important lesson when in possession of a firearm. First, you have to ask yourself all the necessary questions like:
- “Why do I have a gun?”
- “Where did this gun come from?”
- and finally “Why am I learning gun safety from Zaid Hamid!?”
Well ok, that last question came out of nowhere but bear with us for a second here.
Apparently, ‘demolitions and firearms expert’ Zaid Hamid released a video recently about the importance of checking your gun’s safety. Let’s watch it here first.

Now that you are up to speed. Let’s talk about some important things.
The Proper Way to Check Your Gun’s Safety
After you’ve somewhat adequately answered all questions we raised above, it is time to learn the basics of gun safety. This time we are dead serious.
Things to keep in mind:
- Firstly, a gun should always be treated as if it is loaded. Always.
- Secondly, you should never place your finger on the trigger if you do not want to fire, especially if you’re checking to see whether the safety is ‘on’.
- Never point it at anyone.
- Guns don’t kill people, people do. (What is this? The National Rifle Association?)
Unless, of course, if your teacher is the self-proclaimed warrior Zaid Hamid! As the red-beret wearing ‘commando’ instructs people to check if the safety is on or off in the dark is by trying to pull the trigger! In case you missed the video the first time, here is it again:

We’re pretty sure the next piece of golden advice would be to simply just look down the barrel of the gun. This video is just another day in the office for the “most influential Muslim in the world,” or at least according to The Muslim 500.
Syed Zaid Zaman Hamid claims to have fought in the Soviet-Afghan War, but judging by his most recent “gun-safety tutorial,” color us skeptical. Or maybe, he could’ve been one of the extras in Rambo 3!
