Revealed: The Brave Man Who Risked His Life to Save Dog from Swat Floods

Sometimes a little act of bravery makes all the difference.

We finally know who the kind man who saved a drowning dog in the Swat floods is. Afsar Khan shared his story about becoming a hero with one act of kindness.

In an interview with BBC Urdu, he revealed how he came to save a drowning dog from this year’s vicious monsoon rains.

Recognition was long due to this local neighborhood hero who was aware of the dangers of the wild waves of the Swat River and the floods that followed. He was actually on his way to the mosque to pray when he saw the drowning dog, whose rescue led to his viral fame.

“I was going to the mosque to pray. There he saw a laborer’s wheelbarrow standing and thinking that he might not be swept away in the river, he thought let’s do it on the side. But when I went to save the locomotive, someone told me that there was a dog on the other side of the river, but my heart and conscience did not allow me to leave the dog to die in the fast-moving water, ”

He said he did what he did for God, and wasn’t even aware he had become an Internet sensation. Afsar Khan is not fond of the compliments though.

“”While walking in the river, all that was going on in my mind was that saving an animal is only for the pleasure of Allah, not for the sake of wow and praise of anyone, … I was also afraid that I might drown. ”
