Bollywood

Bollywood and Lollywood are often compared due to cultural similarities. Both the film industries have huge numbers of followers and it won’t be wrong to say that they have taken over the world.

While the Indian entertainment industry is more dominant in terms of films, Pakistani showbiz has produced numerous outstanding plays that are loved by an international audience, including the biggest Bollywood stars.

Here are a list of B-town celebs who enjoy Pakistani dramas and are all praise for them.

1. Vidya Balan

Bollywood

Vidya Balan is one of the Indian stars who have not shied away from the fact that she enjoys Pakistani dramas a lot.

2. Kajol

Kajol is aging backwards and her love for Pakistani content is immense. In an interview with Express Tribune, she once said that Indian TV producers have a lot to learn from Pakistani dramas. She said:

“My mother-in-law follows Pakistani dramas religiously on this channel called Cine Dosti. I have managed to watch a few episodes with her and was really impressed. They have good content and the language is extremely pleasant to hear. They finish one story in 15 episodes, which is fabulous and makes it very interesting to watch.”

3. Amitabh Bachchan

Bollywood

One of the most senior actors of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan has appreciated Pakistani dramas. He also said that they are ‘far superior’ than Indian dramas.

”I like it when people from Pakistan come to work in India. We have seen the work done in Pakistan. The drama serials that are shown on Pakistani television are exceptional. A channel in India is dedicated to showing Pakistani drama serials which are very fine and I accept the fact that Pakistani TV serials are far superior to those which are being made in India. The artists in Pakistan are brilliant too. Even very long ago many Pakistani serials were extraordinary.”

4. R. Madhavan

Bollywood

R. Madhavan also believes that Pakistani dramas are ‘phenomenal’. In an interview with Express Tribune, he said,

“I think they’re phenomenal. They’ve caught on really well and the people are relating to them. There’s so much that’s common in both the countries. I’m a huge fan of some of the actors there and the movies from there.”

5. Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt has admitted in an interview that while preparing herself for the role of Roop Chaudhry in Kalank, she took inspiration for her character from Sanam Saeed’s Kashaf in the blockbuster drama Zindagi Gulzar Hai.

This proves that art transcends borders and we hope that there are more opportunities where the two countries can collaborate more often.
